On Wednesday, Sept. 19, each UA Dance Marathon Miracle Maker accepted the challenge to raise $100 in just 24-hours for Children’s of Alabama. This is one of our favorite annual fundraising pushes, $100 Day. There were snow cones with the profits benefiting Children’s on campus, snacks, giveaways and a whole lot of miracles being made in the process. By the end of the 24-hour challenge, Miracle Makers raised an incredible total of $42,608.76 all For The Kids!!
The emergency department at Children’s of Alabama has an average of 73,000 visitors per year, on top of their regular patients. This, and our 23 Miracle Families, is what the UADM staff used to fuel our motivation for the big 24-hour challenge.
Miracle Makers spread excitement all around campus by tabling, posting on their social media accounts, sharing why we fundraise, and why we dance. They were giving away tasty treats, handmade gifts, t-shirts and various merch items for donations. Students were canning in their classes, got pied in the face, and had a stand where students could create cards for our Miracle Kids at Children’s of Alabama. There was a Kendra Scott trunk show that Phi Mu graciously hosted, which gave a percentage of the proceeds to COA, a social media giveaway of UADM merch, and a Frutta Bowls percentage night.
On this day, the UA campus and community were united to help a cause bigger than ourselves. This was our first big fundraising day of UADM 2019 and we were thrilled with seeing all the hard work pay off. Thank you so much to everyone who helped us fundraise for the kids at Children’s of Alabama! With each donation, more miracles are able to happen.
